Green Tea: Raise a Cup to Your Health!

The Western world is just now catching on to what the Asians have known for 4,000 years, that one cup of green tea has an abundance of health benefits. As a matter of fact, for centuries the Chinese people have been drinking green tea as treatment for everything from depression to headaches.

Today, both the Western world and the Eastern world are conducting studies to produce scientific evidence of the health benefits of green tea. One of the most notable of these studies was published in the Journal of National Cancer Institute In 1994, it discussed how the results of an epidemiological study showed that one of the health benefits of drinking green tea is that it can actually reduce the risk of esophageal cancer in Chinese women and men by up to 60%.

Research shows that the heavy presence of a particular catechin polyphenol called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which is an antioxidant, is the main reason why green tea has so many amazing health benefits. At the John Innes Center in England and at the University of Murcia in Spain, researchers have demonstrated that the EGCG in green tea binds cancer cells to an enzyme, which actually prevents them from growing. Thus, this powerful antioxidant can inhibit the growth of cancer cells, and can even destroy the cancer cells without harming the healthy cells.

Another notable study was taken by The University of Purdue, which has also done research on how a particular compound that is present in green tea can stop cancer cells from growing.

As if its cancer fighting properties werent enough, green tea has yet another great health benefit - its ability to lower cholesterol levels as well as to improve the ratio between good cholesterol (HDL) and bad cholesterol (LDL). On top of inhibiting and fighting cancer cells, the antioxidant EGCG can also lower LDL cholesterol levels and stop blood from forming abnormal clots (thrombosis), which is a leading cause of strokes and heart attacks.

Compared to other Chinese teas like black tea and oolong, green tea has more health benefits. All of these different teas come from the tea plant Camellia sinensis, but green tea is different in the process by which it is made. Green tea owes much of its wonderful health benefits to how the leaves of the Camellia sinensis are steamed. The steaming process of green tea keeps the EGCG antioxidant from oxidizing. Oolong and black teas differ in that the leaves are fermented instead of being steamed, thus creating a less potent form of the EGCG.

Green tea not only offers medicinal benefits, though, it also has fitness benefits. Green tea has been shown to help a person burn more calories than normal. A study taken on green tea has shown that drinking it regularly can help dieters lose weight. In 1999, The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published a study that showed that men who took both green tea and caffeine burned more calories than men who only took in caffeine or a placebo.

And it doesnt end there, green tea also has bacteria-destroying properties. Drinking green tea can actually help prevent tooth decay and may even prevent food poisoning because the substances found in green tea can kill the bacteria that cause food poisoning and those that cause the formation of dental plaque.

So raise a cup to your health! Now that we know of its countless medicinal and health benefits, Id say it wouldnt be a far stretch to say that green tea is nothing short of a miracle, and now Im off to get my daily fill!

Zune Marketplace-Better Than iTunes? Find Out Here!

As you probably already know if you listen to music online there are a number of different download services to pick from. As the music industry grows online and so do the services and to protect themselves and others these companies make more laws concerning what you can do with their music.

Today I am going to tell you about two of the bigger music companies which are Zune Marketplace and iTunes and what you should know if you are going to be using them!

Zune Marketplace is geared towards people that own a Zune Player and allows you to have access to a whole host of media for your Zune. The site is a lot like iTunes and offers downloads on a pay per song basis. Obviously it is legal and contains no spyware and it is possible to find almost everything you want on the Zune Marketplace.

The only thing with the Zune Marketplace that could be better is the price as if you are going to be downloading a lot of media for your Zune it can soon become quite costly. The downloads at the Zune Marketplace are about $0.99 per download.

The other main service out there is iTunes and is probably the best known as well, this download site is geared towards Apples iPod and has a huge collection of media to download and podcasts for your iPod. Also it has a video section in iTunes that enables you to download Video to your iPodif it supports that feature.

You can also get access to TV Shows through iTunes and I would say the only thing bad about it is again the price both these services are very pricey and because they charge on a per download basis the costs can soon start mounting up!

The other option you have is to try one of the free download sites but be careful as a lot of these sites are riddled with spyware and can be harmful to your PC. It is possible to find good download sites that charge you a small fee but is definitely worth considering if you are to be downloading a lot of media for your Zune or iPod!

I hope these tips on the Zune Marketplace and iTunes have helped you get more from your Zune Player or iPod!

Blogging Tips - Layouts That Will Maximize Profit

With the basics of blogging and while there are many different aspects of your blog that will affect how much profit is to be gained off of your blog, another important aspect is the look and feel of your blog. The layout of your blog can either turn a visitor away or can strike interest in a potential customer, because if a layout is hideous or confusing to find your way around, most likely the visitor isn't going to bother messing with it and will just exit out of the page.

Your layout must be simple yet unique because no visitor wants to see the same layout on every other blog, this is just plain boring and it's not professional. Try to pick something that has it's own unique look to it and adds quality to your posts and words. I find a lot of dull and boring looking layouts that tend to make me want to exit the page simply because it just doesn't look professional.

The quality of your posts and the quality of your content can be excellent but blogs that are hard to understand or hard to navigate is a blog that is a lot less likely that it will get a returning visitor which is why the lay out of your blog is important. Find something that is colorful but not too colorful, as in something that shows off or grabs attention to all your posts. I have found in my experience that a light blue or a black website with light text is easier to read and grabs attention.

By the navigation of your blog, what I am talking about is your set up and your link placement. You want the navigational links to be the easiest thing to find on your blog because you want visitors to stick around and you want them to search through your site. I usually find that placing navigational links on a side bar or right above all my posts works best and keeps visitors sticking around going through my page more.

I'm not saying that an ugly blog has no chance of making money, but there are so many different aspects that will affect if your blog ever turns a profit or not, and the layout of your blog just happens to be one of those things.
